Innovation Schools Planning Grant Race to the Top

Funds Allocated: $80,000
Funds Requested: $80,000
Purpose: The purpose of this grant is to support the planning of proposed Innovation Schools in participating federally-funded Race to the Top (RTTT) districts during school year 2013-2014. The Innovation School initiative, a signature component of An Act Relative to the Achievement Gap that Governor Patrick signed into law in January 2010, gives educators and other stakeholders across the state the opportunity to create in-district schools that will leverage the lessons learned from the state's top performing autonomous schools.

At maximum enrollment, the eight schools enroll a combined total of approximately 3,525 students, with grades ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade. Grant awards are $10,000 per school.
