Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2013

FY13 Title I Support to Specific Underperforming School Districts: New Bedford Public Schools K-2 Literacy Professional Development
Fund Code: 322-N

Purpose: The purpose of this non-competitive grant funding opportunity is to support New Bedford Public Schools in continuing turnaround efforts at two Level 4 schools by addressing school and district needs to improve K-2 Literacy.
Priorities: Accelerate professional development efforts at Hayden-McFadden and Parker Schools in fully implementing the New Bedford Public Schools report Four Steps to Improving K-2 Reading.
Eligibility: Only New Bedford Public Schools is eligible to apply for this non-competitive funding.
Funding: Funding for the grant will come from federal Title I targeted assistance funds. A total of $50,000 will be awarded.
Fund Use: Fund use must be consistent with the understanding reached between the New Bedford Public Schools and the ESE pertaining to the rationale, expected outcomes, and costs associated with this initiative. Fund use shall include costs for teachers to attend after school, Saturday and/or summer professional development, fees for consultants/trainers, purchase of relevant materials and supplies (excluding technology), and printing costs associated with this initiative.
