The following reports are required this fall:
* Not applicable for charter schools. Student Information Management System v2.0 (SIMS)This fall we are implementing SIMS v2.0 that includes the expanded 52 data elements. In order to increase the accuracy and timeliness of the data we are providing a document titled Reporting Schedule and Activities for 2003-2004. This document outlines the procedure to be followed by the Department and your district during each of the four SIMS collections this year. It is located on the web at: http://www.doe.mass.edu/infoservices/data/sims/schedule.html. District and School Staffing ReportAs mentioned in previous communications the Department is implementing a new staff data collection report that is replacing the School System Summary Report. In order to comply with NCLB, additional information is required, including staff information at the school level. Training will be provided at the upcoming NCLB training workshops, and materials will be posted to http://www.doe.mass.edu/infoservices/data/. A paper copy Directory Administration FunctionsLast fall the Department began using the Directory Administration (DA) application as the single source of superintendent and principal directory information. This fall we would like to expand the use of this application to the following five functions; Business Manager, Educational Technology, SIMS Contact, Special Education Director and Title I Director. Please review the enclosed document that lists what is currently maintained in DA for your district and see that the information is updated as needed. Student Exclusion and Disciplinary Incident ReportsThis electronic form will be replacing the Student Exclusion Report, Gun Free Schools Act Report, the Safe and Drug Free Schools Report and the Special Education Discipline Report. A draft form and instructions are enclosed. We would appreciate your feedback as we move to develop a consolidated collection of this important information. Please send your thoughts and comments to data@doe.mass.edu. before November 1st. Districts and Schools should continue to maintain this information in preparation for the forms availability in February 2004.
