Frequently Asked Questions
The following is a list of frequently asked questions by users of the aMAzing Educators website.
How can the aMAzing Educators platform help me?The aMAzing Educators platform includes a wealth of information for educators (or potential educators), including careers in education, turnaround schools, diversity in education, job search advice, and more. Through Race the Top funding, we were able to make enhancements to our existing system to include a statewide recruitment platform where users could post a resume and search for jobs. However, the data showed very few districts were using this platform resulting in fewer candidates seeking opportunities through the statewide recruitment platform. As a result, effective April 30th, 2015 these recruitment features were removed from the site. The resourced included will remain – and will continue to be updated to support educators.
What is an ELAR account? The Department's Educator Licensure and Recruitment (ELAR) system is the online tool for licensure. Educator candidates can submit documents and review licensure status in this system. Superintendents and designated district staff have access to our online licensing system in order to check the licensure status of current staff or potential hires.
How is my ELAR account different from the previous My Career Center within the aMAzing Educators platform? The ELAR system focuses on licensure while the Career Center focused on job searching features. A user's ELAR account hosts licensure documents whereas the My Career Center hosted job search information.
What happened to my GEM Plan? The purpose of the GEM Plan was to help an educator or a prospective educator determine the best course to becoming a MA Educator. However, the brief GEM Plan questionnaire did not allow for users to have all the necessary information about a career in education. Instead, ESE developed the robust aMAzing Educator platform which includes detailed information about becoming an educator within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts ranging from licensure information to job search advice.
What if I have other questions about the aMAzing Educators platform? For questions about specific job opportunities, please contact the local district's Human Resources Department. District contact information can be found on the School and District Profiles website.
