ESE/ACLS Program Monitoring-Administrator Interview Questions-2006-2010

Quality Indicator 1

  1. Please give us an overview of the program's curriculum development process. Do you have a common planning time? Challenges?

  2. How are you involved in the process?

  3. Do you review lesson plans? Does a lead teacher/coordinator?

  4. In what ways do you guide instructional staff in designing and implementing educational curricula that accommodates adult roles, diverse purposes, learning styles, abilities and cultures, etc? Please provide examples.

  5. Do you have a process that allows instructors to work together to improve teaching and learning? Please give examples.

  6. Do you have an MOA for instruction with any other agencies? If yes, have you been able to successfully transfer students?

  1. Who on your staff is trained to administer and score assessments?

  2. Does the program use any or all of the performance standards for continuous improvement planning? If yes, please give examples.

  3. In what ways do you allow opportunity for staff to confer and present issues affecting instruction and other program-related services? What is your role in this process?

  4. Please give us an overview of the program's goal setting process.

  1. Please give us an overview of the program's counseling component? Is the Counselor also the ADA Coordinator? If not, why not?

  2. Could you talk about any strategies the program uses to support student retention? Is there a particular strategy that the program finds effective?

  3. How do you and staff keep up to date on research, instructional practices, management and leadership? How do you foster your own learning? Please give examples.

  1. Please give an overview of your community planning partnership? Active members? Regular meetings? Strategic Plan? Updated needs and Assets? Challenges? Successes?

  1. Please describe your program's planning process? Who is involved in the process and how are they involved? - staff, students, volunteers, other stakeholders?

  2. Is there a formal process to get student input?

  3. What types of data have you used in the planning process? How did you decide what data to use? Please give examples.

  4. Could you tell us how you are currently using the funding designated for program development?

  5. Could you tell us about your advisory council? Members? Meetings? Activities?

  6. Do you have regularly scheduled staff meetings? Does all staff participate? How do you accommodate different schedules?

  7. Have you been trained in using Cognos? If yes, how do you use Cognos? Please give examples.

  1. Does each staff member have a staff development plan? Is staff able to participate in the required number of staff development hours? Challenges? Barriers to participation? Solutions?

  2. How do you tie staff development activities to your program's continuous improvement plan?

  3. How do you lead the development and implementation of a program mission and vision?

  4. How do you lead the process of program goals and program improvement goals?

  5. How do you guide staff in deciding what data to collect based on requirements and program improvement initiatives? Please give examples.

  6. In what ways do you lead the development and implementation of an overall program evaluation process to assess program strengths and areas for improvements? How frequently?

  7. How might information from the community planning process inform future program planning?

  1. Please describe your organization's hiring practices? Who is involved in the selection of interview committees?

  2. How do you orient and train new staff?

  3. Do you think it is important to seek staff who represent the diversity of the student population?

  5. How do you evaluate staff? How often? Do you conduct classroom observations?

  6. How is feedback given to the teachers?

  7. Please provide an overview of your bookkeeping system. How do you ensure that grant expenditures are coded and tracked?
