Program Description:
NSCC provides advising and contextualized HiSET/ACCUPLACER instruction and HHA and CNA instruction. NSCC's HHA/CNA instructor is a registered nurse who is Department of Public Health approved to teach the courses. The education and training instructors are present in each other's classes on a weekly basis. In addition, students have access to existing college support services including academic tutoring, career planning and assessment, and social/emotional counseling. Classroom and clinical portions of the training include taking vital signs, moving and turning patients, personal care, bed making, bed bathing, feeding, record keeping, and responding to emergencies. Clinical hours are done at employer partner facilities. Graduates are eligible to enroll in multiple NSCC health science credit certificate and degree programs. NSCC works with students to determine eligibility for college credits based on training, relevant life experiences, and past coursework. Students who successfully complete the program and pass the CNA exam earn five NSCC college credits if they choose to continue their education toward an Associate's Degree.

*The clinical rotations consist of four (4) six (6) hour shifts that begin Week 19 of the program and continue for two more weeks after the program is finished.
