Community Planning
Purposes of Community Planning
The Adult Basic Education (ABE) Community Planning initiative supports Department of Elementary and Secondary Education funded adult education programs in developing and sustaining local ABE Community Planning Partnerships. ABE Community Planning Partnerships are encouraged to include every organization in the community with an interest in providing educational and support services to undereducated and/or limited English proficient adults and their families. The purposes of ABE Community Planning are that:
The needs of all undereducated and/or limited English proficient constituencies are accounted for and that strategic plans are developed to identify how and when every such constituency will ultimately be served.
Every organization with an interest in and the potential for supporting services to these populations is included in such planning, and that protocols are established to coordinate these services.
Students benefit from the broadest possible array of educational, employment and training, and health and human services available and which so many adults need in order to successfully pursue their goals and aspirations.
Adult Basic Education takes its place as a key ingredient in each organization's, community's, and region's plan to improve the quality of life for its citizenry.
