ACLS funds 12 ABE-Transition-to-Community Colleges programs in 12 community colleges across the state. The goal of these programs is to enable Massachusetts community colleges in coordination with partnering Community Adult Learning Centers to provide students with the supports they need to enroll and succeed in postsecondary education.
Three key components of the Transition programs are:
- Students learn with a cohort (learning community)
- Counselors provide intensive student support
- Students are fully integrated into the community college
ABE students are eligible for Transition programs if they meet the following criteria:
- have a goal of attending postsecondary education
- have a 400 in MAPT Math and a 500 in MAPT Reading
- have a GED*
*Soon you will receive information about dual enrollment for ABE students who do not yet have their GED.
