  1. Waitlist Verifications --- 77 Projects Submitted Verifications as of 1/8/08
Thanks to all of you who updated the waitlist information. As of 1/8/08, we have received verification from 77 projects that the waitlist data is accurate The current waitlist counts displayed on our ABE Directory are:

    ABE4,852
    ESOL13,446
    TOTAL18,298

We would appreciate it if those who have not submitted the verification could complete it this month. With the state budget looming just around the corner and from past experience, we get requests for waitlist numbers. By completing the Waitlist Verification, we can report accurate waitlist numbers to those that ask for this information.

Information on how to verify that the waitlist has been updated was provided in the December 14, 2007 update.

  2. SMARTT Trainings
SMARTT Updates are scheduled in each region in January and February that focus on "Reviewing Your Mid-year Data: Assessments, Goals, and Attendance." Please look at the training schedule and plan to attend a training if you need assistance in reviewing your data. As you know, data needs to be entered monthly and Program Specialists review the data monthly. There are also a variety of Cognos trainings scheduled over the next 2 months that range from Introduction to Advanced Cognos. Please attend the training that best suits your needs.

  3. Professional Development Data Entry Make sure that you are entering all non SABES related activities in SMARTT on as regular basis. Please review the July 24, 2007 special mailing from Anne Serino that explains why this information is required in FY08, why we are collecting this data, how it relates to our significant investment in professional development, and how all the data helps us make informed decisions about what is happening and what is effective. The steps to enter this information is listed in the March update with clarification in the April updates.

  4. SMARTT Updates in SMARTT Section
I am sure that you have noticed that all the SMARTT updates are posted in the SMARTT Information section of our website rather than in the general mailing section. It is easier for users to locate each month's updated mailing if you need to reference previous information. The sections are labeled:
    SMARTT Monthly Updates
    Latest Update: January 2008
Previous 2007 SMARTT Updates ---12 monthly updates for 2007

  5. SMARTT Training Schedule Download PDF Document  Download MS WORD Document
The updated training schedule is listed under the SMARTT System Information section on our ACLS website. Please make sure that appropriate staff attend the scheduled upcoming trainings. Notify your SABES regional office as soon as possible with future SMARTT/Cognos training needs so SABES can schedule appropriate trainings. For contact information, see http://www.sabes.org/staff.htm. To register for these and other trainings, please go to http://calendar.sabes.org/ and click on your region or contact the regional offices directly.
