SMARTT Update, January 2009

Waitlist Verifications --- 81 Projects Submitted Verifications as of 1/19/09

• Thanks to all of you who updated the waitlist information. As of 1/19/09, we have received verification from 81 projects that the waitlist data is accurate. We would appreciate it if those who have not submitted the verification could complete it this month. By completing the waitlist verification, we can report accurate waitlist numbers to those that ask for this information.
• Information on how to verify that the waitlist has been updated was provided in the December update.
• The current waitlist counts displayed on our ABE Directory are:

Outstanding Partial Intakes ---36

There are still 36 outstanding partial intakes that have not been converted or deleted. If the student left prior to MAPT testing, please delete the partial intake. Partials intakes can be deleted only if no tests were administered using the SMARTT ID associated with the partial intake. Please contact one of the regional field techs if you need assistance converting or deleting the partial intakes. Once the partial intake is converted to a full intake and a primary area is selected in the Student Assessment screen, the assessment information will appear in the Site Primary Assessment Report and the Site MAPT Report.

ABE Program Design Training For New Directors ---Date Change

• Note that we changed the last date from Friday, April 10th to Monday, April 13th
• As stated in the ACLS Guidelines, all Directors and other staff who may be required to enter program plans into SMARTT (e.g., site coordinators, assistant directors) must complete this four-day training within her/his first 12 months of hire.
• Please e-mail Donna Cornellier (dcornellier@doe.mass.edu) by January 30th to sign up for this four-day training which will be held at the MWCC/Devens Learning Center at One Jackson Place, Devens MA. Directions will be e-mailed in early February to all who signed up The trainings will be held from 9:30 - 3:30 pm these four days:
  • Monday, March 2nd
  • Friday, March 13th
  • Friday, March 27th
  • Monday, April 13th

GED Data Matching --- Match Completed on 1/6/2009

• The last GED data match with Oklahoma Scoring Service was completed on 1/6/2009. One hundred and fourteen (114) records were matched for students who attended classes or volunteer tutor matches in FY09. One hundred (100) students set the goal, which is eighty eight (88%). Fourteen (14) students or 12% did not set the goal and will not be included in the Federal Report.
• Remember that we cannot include in the Federal Report the achievement of any goal if that goal was not set. It is important to meet with students on a regular basis to make sure goals are set, new goals are identified, and the dates set are entered into the system.

SMARTT Training Schedule

The updated training schedule is now posted.

• There are four SMARTT New User trainings scheduled in the various regions between February 26th and May 1st. SMARTT Updates focusing on "Reviewing Mid-Year Data" are being held in the regions in January and February. "Intermediate Cognos" and "Introduction to Cognos" trainings are also being held in the regions in January and February. Check the SABES calendar for dates and times.
