School and Classroom Culture and Climate: Hearing from Stakeholders

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education has various initiatives underway relating to school and classroom culture and climate. At the Board's special meeting on June 23, 2014, we will discuss several of these initiatives, with a focus on our outreach to and engagement with stakeholders.

Specifically, we will present results from the second statewide educator survey known as TELL Mass (Teaching, Empowering, Leading, and Learning Survey), as well as qualitative results from the external evaluation of the TELL Mass survey. We will also present an overview of work we are doing with the field to implement the new student discipline law and regulations and the recent amendments to the anti-bullying law. Deputy Commissioner Alan Ingram and Associate Commissioners Heather Peske and John Bynoe will join us at the special meeting for the presentation and discussion.
