Adult Basic EducationContinue to work on multi-year plan for adult basic education.
Arts EducationReview current arts curriculum framework document and make recommendations for updates.
Community Service LearningAdvise on connection of community service learning (CSL) to college and career readiness, including CSL experiences that colleges and employers value.
Educational PersonnelReview recommendations of educator evaluation task force; advise on how to assist in an assess implementation of new system.
Educational TechnologyAdvise on best practices for online learning, including virtual innovation schools; review and advise on options and access issues relating to online learning and assessment.
English Language Learners/Bilingual EducationAdvise on training and professional development for teachers, specifically, whether to refine the extent and content of category training.
Gifted and Talented EducationRecommend cost-effective ways for teachers to support and enhance the education of gifted and talented students; identify low-cost best practices in schools.
Global EducationAdvise on the January ESE/MASS meeting on 21st century skills/global education and assist in follow up.
Interdisciplinary Health Education and Human ServicesReview and advise on the revision of the Health Education framework, advise on wraparound services.
Life Management SkillsAdvise on the importance of life management skills (healthy relationships, financial literacy, parent-child communication, educational and career success skills, and health life skills) for teen pregnancy prevention as it relates to the DPH/ESE Personal Responsibility Education Program. Also advise on the Health Framework revisions of the Life Management Skills section(s).
Mathematics and Science EducationAdvise on how state could develop useful model curriculum; respond to state's STEM plan for K-12 and conduct a gap analysis of what needs to be done to achieve goals within current fiscal constraints.
Parent and Community Education and InvolvementAdvise on content of a resource guide/best practices for engaging parents/guardians/families in supporting student learning and achievement.
Racial ImbalanceWork with advisory council on gifted and talented education to identify and recommend cost-effective ways for teachers to support and enhance the education of gifted and talented students from diverse backgrounds and identify low-cost best practices in schools. Also, work with advisory council on parent and community engagement to advise on content of a resource guide/best practices for engaging parents/guardians/families of all cultural backgrounds and income levels in supporting student learning and achievement.
School and District Accountability and AssistanceAdvise on Level 3 and 4 school and district planning, planning for the first Level 5 schools and districts, and targeted assistance strategies.
Special EducationReview and advise on the annual state performance report for special education and participate in the ongoing discussion about providing effective education and services for students with disabilities while containing costs.
Technology/Engineering EducationAdvise on how state could develop useful model curriculum; respond to state's STEM plan for K-12 and conduct a gap analysis of what needs to be done to achieve goals within current fiscal constraints.
Vocational-Technical EducationReview RTTT plan on MassCore as default curriculum and advise on how to make it work in vocational-technical education programs.
