Barnstable Public Schools Cape Cod Regional Center for Gifted and Talented
The Cape Cod Regional Center for Gifted and Talented will provide professional development for teachers and administrators; access to identification and curriculum materials; ideas, funds and services to districts in the region with emerging programs for advanced learners. Consultation services and workshops for teachers will be offered at the center and at the cultural partner sites, as well as in districts in the region. Graduate-level courses for teachers will be offered in the spring and summer with support from the Cape Cod Collaborative. Access to services for students and educators will be provided through partnership with Cape Cod Maritime Museum, Cape Cod Symphony, and Cotuit Center for the Arts. Dual enrollment opportunities at Massachusetts Maritime Academy are available for advanced high school learners in the summer of 2009. The East Longmeadow Public Schools/UMASS Amherst (ELPS/UMASS) Gifted & Talented Teachers' Resource Center
The ELPS/UMASS Gifted & Talented Teachers' Resource Center will be a comprehensive meeting place for teachers and administrators from any district seeking assistance with the implementation of a Gifted & Talented program.Districts seeking assistance with Gifted & Talented Program Development will schedule appointments with theELPS/UMASS Gifted & Talented Teachers' Resource Center where teachers of the Gifted & Talented will share curriculum, materials, and advice. The Center will include a computer bank where visitors will have access to the Renzulli Learning System, including individual training in how to use the system; and access to Internet resources suchas www.teachertube.com, which provides an educationally focused, safe, online venue for teachers and schools forsharing instructional videos. Teacher resources including instructional materials, instructional video series, critical thinking activities, and Gifted & Talented identification materials will all be housed in the ELPS/UMASS Gifted& Talented Teachers' Resource Center. A library of resources for districts to access, including published materials as well as a bank of differentiated lessons designed specifically to address the needs of Gifted & Talented students will also be created in partnership with Professors Stephen and Effrat of UMASS. This Resource Center will also provide a place for visitors to consult with East Longmeadow's Gifted & Talented teachers and administrators, and Professor Stephen from UMASS. The Center will be a meeting place for the ELPS/UMASS partners toplan an array of professional development opportunities. Statewide workshops will be offered jointly, which will provide an overview of resources and services available from ELPS and UMASS. UMASS will offer professional development opportunities including coursework, workshops, and mini-conferences to educators in Gifted& Talented Education. Framingham Public Schools Gifted and Talented Resource and Support Center
Framingham's Implementation Support Center for Gifted and Talented offers a variety of services to districts from December 2008 through June 2009. Scheduled visits are welcome to allow for observation of Framingham's services for gifted and talented. Consultation services will be available at the Implementation Support Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. Training in programming models, program design, methods of identification and screening, meeting the needs of gifted learners using standards-based instruction, differentiated instruction, and addressing the social-emotional concerns of gifted learners is available. Districts may use the Implementation Support Center as a resource facility where curriculum units, sample lessons, and strategy templates can be reproduced. Screening and identification and other commercially available materials may be viewed to enable districts to make informed purchases. Full days can be scheduled in June as follow-up sessions that will serve to help districts finalize implementation plans for the 2009-2010 school year. Triton Regional School District Gifted and Talented Resource and Support Center
Triton Regional School District's Gifted and Talented Resource and Support Center offers a variety of support to teachers, administrators, and school districts in serving academically advanced and gifted students. The Triton TAG Center offers professional development opportunities including training in the identification and needs of the gifted, establishing service systems at low cost, enrichment, differentiation, technology for differentiation, curriculum, etc. Consultancies into districts will be offered for several weeks in the summer. Courses for parents are also available. A lending library of curriculum and professional books can be accessed. Free Historic New England programs can be applied for by schools and districts. Observations and visits to the TAG Center are available during the day and several evenings a week. The gifted program at Triton includes push-in, pull-out, and enrichment opportunities to serve gifted students.
