MassGrad Gateway to College Start-Up Awards

The Department provided the MassGrad Gateway to College Award to three community college who are partnered with at least one MassGrad-eligible school district. These award recipients received planning and implementation funds to offer the Gateway to College program model located on the college campus.

The national Gateway to College Program model is designed to help high school dropouts and students on the verge of dropping out to earn a high school diploma while also earning college credits. With technical assistance from the Gateway to College National Network, the community college provides an educational setting that combines high academic expectations with one-on-one advising and support. All classes are college classes and the program is fully integrated into campus setting. For students who have not been successful in a traditional high school setting, this is a new opportunity for success.
