Career Development

Career development is the lifelong process through which we come to understand our place in the world of work and society. The quality of one’s career development can impact his/her educational, occupational, and lifestyle choices and outcomes. Too often, student complacency, behavior problems, and dropout rates stem from the perception that schooling has little relevance. The future-mindedness cultivated through career development education (CDE) can play a key role in promoting student motivation and achievement. Therefore, CDE should be integrated with the mainstream curriculum as a means of promoting student success.
