Profiles of Dissemination

The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education is profiling schools that have engaged in thoughtful dissemination work. These profiles include schools who may have received a rating of "Exceeds" for Criterion 4: 1 Dissemination, in their Summary of Review, or schools that have received the most recent federally funded, Charter School Dissemination Grant, a competitive grant to assist Massachusetts charter schools to work with district schools to disseminate best practices. Each profile provides summary information about the practice or activity, web-based and other resources to support implementation, and contact information. 1 Criterion 4 is one of ten (10) Criteria that define expected performance in the three guiding areas of charter school accountability: faithfulness to charter, academic program success, and organizational viability. The Department evaluates these criteria through the use of quantitative and/or qualitative data as well as affirmative evidence presented by the school, compiled over the course of the school's charter term.

2 1 For the purposes of this site, the term "best practice" refers to a strong or promising practice that has demonstrated potential to be effective. The Department recognizes that both the term "best practice" and the term "dissemination" can be charged and potentially create barriers to sharing. These terms are being used here because of the wording of the law.
