Seven Finalists Submit Charter School Applications, Public Hearings Scheduled

Seven Finalists submitted charter school applications to the Department on November 14, 2003. Each application will undergo a rigorous review process over the next three months. The Board of Education will grant new charters in February 2004.
Public comment is welcome in two ways. Written public comment may be submitted to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Charter School Office, 75 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA 02148 or by email to charterschools@doe.mass.edu, by no later than Friday, January 16, 2004. The Department will also host three public hearings in January for members of the community to voice their opinions in an open forum.
The hearings will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the following locations:
Monday, January 12th at the Plymouth Public Library Otto Fehlow Room, 132 South Street, Plymouth
Wednesday, January 14th at the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education 3rd Floor, 75 Pleasant Street, Malden
Thursday, January 15th at Quinsigamond Community College Herbert Auditorium, 670 West Boylston Street, Worcester
