Boston Renaissance Charter Public School 2007-2010 Accountability Plan Draft 1.4 Mission Statement The mission of the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School is to develop academic, social, and emotional competence while building confidence, character and citizenship in a nurturing, supportive environment. Vision Statement Boston Renaissance Charter Public School offers choice for Boston parents of children in pre-kindergarten through grade six within a safe, nurturing environment conducive to learning. Renaissance offers students a rigorous academic program in a vibrant, child-centered atmosphere that includes programs in technology, fine arts, music, dance, and physical education. Our accountability plan derives from the mission and vision of the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School (BRCPS) and describes the school s core competencies and related goalsfrom 2007 to 2010. Numerical/quantitative measures are used with regard to outcomes in compliance with the Charter School Office s Accountability Plan Guidelines. Renaissance is a viable organization which stands fully accountable to parents, students and the community, as evidenced by our committed and active board of trustees, experienced leadership team, highly qualified faculty, extensive community involvement, and a high demand from Boston families. The school s educational philosophy is founded on principles of nurturing the whole-child through academic, social, emotional, and character development. Our curriculum and instructional practices are aligned with the Massachusetts Standards. High expectations are maintained for teachers and learners alike. A Measures and Objectives 3. A.1 The board will complete an annual self-assessment and retreat to address the most pertinent issues in regards to the school's ability to meet objectives outlined in the accountability plan in order to present findings that will promote positive changes. 3. A.2 The Governance and Nominations Committee will ensure that Board membership reflect expertise in areas of need based on identified weaknesses the committee has agreed upon. 3. A.3 The Board of Trustees will evaluate the headmaster on an annual basis, informed by a predetermined evaluation tool that includes feed back from board members, staff, and parents, which will provide strengths as well as suggestions for improvement. Goal 4 -BRCPS will ensure that each child has an opportunity to succeed by adherence to policies and procedures for regular and consistent attendance by all students. 4. A Measures 4. A.1 Each year BRCPS will maintain an average daily attendance of at least 92% in grades 1-6. Goal 5 -BRCPS will demonstrate sound use of financial resources and responsible financial decision-making. 5. A Measures 5. A.1 Yearly BRCPS budgets (actual and proposed) will show strategic management of resources sufficient to support school programs and effectiveness by demonstrating sound practices and policies in managing public resources, through yearly submission of audited financial statements. 5. A.2 On an annual basis, the school will reduce its level of outstanding debt by meeting its obligations to lenders as defined in bond and lending documents. Faithfulness to Charter Goals Goal 6 -BRCPS faculty and staff provide essential elements of our charter to each student. 6. A Measures 6.
