Commissioner's Weekly Update - March 7, 2014
Preliminary Level 5 School Turnaround Plans:
On Mar. 7, Commissioner Chester released the preliminary turnaround plans for the four Level 5 schools, which are Dever Elementary School and Holland Elementary School in Boston, Morgan Full Service Community School in Holyoke, and John Avery Parker School in New Bedford. The plans provide details on the priorities and strategies that will be implemented at each school to ensure that all students experience an exceptional program of study and receive the supports they need to learn. According to statute (M.G.L. Chapter 69, Section 1J(p)), for each Level 5 school, the stakeholder group as a whole, superintendent, and school committee shall submit any proposed modifications to the preliminary plan to Commissioner Chester within 30 days, or by April 7, 2014.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Grants:
The Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPPS) has posted grant application guidelines related to the purchase of automated external defibrillators.
