Accessible Instructional Materials and NIMAS
School districts are required to provide accessible instructional materials to students with disabilities. NIMAS is a technical standard designed to streamline the process of converting digital files to alternate formats such as Braille and audio.

Massachusetts Accessible Instructional Materials (AIM) Library
This state library distributes specialized instructional materials, including Braille and large print, to provide visually impaired students with an appropriate education and equal access to the general curriculum.

Learning Ally (previously Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic)
The Department has a contract with Learning Ally, allowing targeted schools to order audiobooks for students who are blind or who have print disabilities.

Assistive Technology School Share Program
This program offers an online tool for schools to track their assistive technology (AT) inventory, determine their AT needs for a given year, and then borrow or lend AT to other schools.
