The term high-need school district means a school district that meets two conditions:
The district has at least 10% of the student population or at least 1000 children come from families with incomes below the poverty line (based on the U.S. Census) and
The district operates one or more schools identified under section 1116 of ESEA or the district has a substantial need for assistance in acquiring and using technology, based on the guidelines stated in the "Local Technology Plan Guidelines for School Years 2007-2010 "
For this grant program, a school district must have a student enrollment of 200 or more to be considered as a high-need school district.
The high-need districts in this list have up-to-date approved technology plans.
