Evidence of Effectiveness
Instructional objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the salmon life cycle, ecosystems, and wildlife management and restoration while developing technology skills.
Evaluation: Students were assessed in a variety of ways. Mastery of content was evident throughout students' participation in the video-conferencing and their sharing of their presentations to others. Students exhibited their knowledge by teaching their peers and confidently answering questions they asked. A scoring rubric was used to evaluate overall gains made in the fields of technology and science
Student improvement: The use of technology was helpful in improving student outcomes in all areas. The students were more motivated to engage in research, and they dedicated a great amount of time to reading and interpreting data. They were also eager to produce quality, final work, and they exhibited a marked improvement in written and oral expression. Incorporating the element of technology was motivational and empowering for the students.
