Project Description
Needham High School has a music technology lab with sixteen student stations, each consisting of an eMac computer and a Korg X5 synthesizer. All stations are interconnected and routed though a teacher station which controls the entire lab. The instructor can interact with students through the use of headsets and monitor general class activity in this way as well. Students can also hear each other through the headsets, at the teacher's discretion, for the purpose of presentations.

Students used synthesizers and computers to create new music, using Reason software to record a Bach keyboard piece and create drum and sound devices. They were able to mix and add modern percussion and bass elements that complemented or augmented the rhythms of the Bach pieces.
