Project Description
This Massachusetts history unit was funded in part through a Model Technology Grant for Pelham, Petersham, and New Salem school districts called Uncovering the Quabbin. This third grade unit was created in New Salem and included an in-depth study of the local area, past and present, including original documents, historical artifacts, and maps. Students developed historical research skills and technology skills while they learned about the history of both the Quabbin Reservoir and of the local towns. The class then used the students' research products to create a class web site to inform others about the creation of the Quabbin Reservoir and its impact on local communities.
