Creating Student Learning Opportunities
Massachusetts Technology Literacy Standards and Expectations
This document defines what K-12 students should know and be able to do in order to use technologies for lifelong learning and the world of work. Examples illustrate how students can acquire these skills while addressing the standards of the curriculum frameworks.
Bullying Prevention and Intervention Resources
This webpage explains what districts need to do in order to comply with the 2010 bullying prevention and intervention law. It also includes a rich collection of resources for educators, parents, and students from government agencies and experts in this field.
Cyber Safety Resources
Created by the students and educators in the Boston Public Schools, this site offers age-appropriate resources about the safe and appropriate use of technology. The site has Acceptable Use Policies for elementary, middle, and high school students, along with downloadable lesson plans, media presentations, posters, and worksheets.
State Student Advisory Council
These students, elected by their peers from schools all over Massachusetts, are helping make decisions about state education policy. One Council member, Francis Ndicu from Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical School District, is also a member of the state's Educational Technology Advisory Council. The Council's newsletter occasionally features articles about technology-related issues.
Student Government Day
This program allows high school students to take the role of elected or appointed state officials to observe the processes of government. Traditionally held on the first Friday of April, the program allows students to voice their positions on important current issues.
