Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets

Learn about ESE's Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets and how
teachers and principals are giving input on state education policy.

Teacher advisory cabinet activity
2016-17 Teacher Cabinet Members (from left to right) Jessica Lander (Lowell High School), Chih McDermott (B.M.C. Durfee High School, Fall River) and Karene-Sean Hines (James P. Timilty Middle School, Boston) work together on a "Telling Your Story" activity.

Members of the Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets (TAC and PAC) share their insights, suggestions and feedback with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (ESE) to help refine current policies and inform the development of new policies and resources at the state level. The Teacher and Principal Advisory Cabinets have been informing ESE's work since 2012.

To ensure a wide range of input, ESE convenes East and Central/West branches of each cabinet. Furthermore, ESE seeks input from a diverse group of teachers and principals representing urban, suburban, and rural districts that reflect the demographics of Massachusetts' students.

2017-18 Applications Have Closed

Please check back in the spring of 2018 to apply for our 2018-19 cabinets. The Teacher Advisory Cabinets are open to all educators who work with students across grade levels and content areas-including specialists, coaches, and specialized instructional support personnel. The Principal Advisory Cabinets are open to all school-level administrators, including principals, assistant principals, department chairs, and charter school leaders.
