Update Training for past trainers of old "Enhancing English Language Learning in Elementary Classrooms" models (CAL), Leominster Four Points Sheraton

Description: This one-day training session has been designed by the Center for Applied Linguistics and the ESE to update trainers who were qualified to deliver Enhancing training prior to the June 15, 2004 Guidance Memo on "Qualifications for Teachers of Limited English Proficient Students in Sheltered English Immersion Classrooms." It will help trainers align any future Enhancing training sessions for elementary teachers with the current requirements.
July 24-27, 2006
"Enhancing English Language Learning in Elementary Classrooms" Training of Trainers (CAL), Worcester Crowne Plaza
(Follow up dates: Dec. 7, 2006 or May 14, 2007)

Description: This training is based on a curriculum developed by the Center for Applied Linguistics, and is designed to prepare trainers to deliver SEI Professional Development for elementary-level teachers that will meet the requirements of Category 2 (Sheltered Content Instruction). This four-day training in the summer will also require a follow-up day at the end of the semester in which the training team first delivers this training model in their district.
August 1-3, 2006
"Teaching Reading and Writing in Secondary Sheltered Content Classrooms," Training of Trainers (ESE & Brown), Leominster Four Points Sheraton
(Follow up date: December 5, 2006)

Description: The ESE, in collaboration with the Equity Assistance Center and the Regional LAB at Brown University, has designed this three-day curriculum to prepare qualified teams of trainers (see requirements on attached application form) to deliver training to secondary-level teachers on appropriate reading and writing activities (Category 4) to utilize in SEI content area classrooms. One follow-up day of training will be required at the end of the fall semester.
August 22-25, 2006
"Enriching Content Classes for Secondary ESOL Students" Training of Trainers (CAL), Worcester Crowne Plaza
(Follow up dates: Dec. 8, 2006 or May 15, 2007)
