FY13 "Newbie" Circuit Breaker Claim Training Announcement
Superintendents, Charter School Leaders and Special Education Directors, School Business Officials
Jay Sullivan, Executive Director, School Finance & District Support
April 12, 2013
In an effort to increase the effectiveness of our annual training for Circuit Breaker claims we are planning to hold Circuit Breaker "Newbie" Trainings (CB101). CB101 is training specifically designed for "Newbies". It is for staff unfamiliar with the claim process.
This training is not geared to staff who has previously attended regular Circuit Breaking workshops.
We will review the claim workbook including all worksheets and macros buttons, as well as the out of district and in district claim sections of the computer file.
We will conduct a basic "hands on" session that will allow the attendee to work on actual examples of simple claims from entering a new student to updating and deleting existing students. We will also discuss the history of circuit breaker, review circuit breaker eligible and ineligible costs and familiarize you with terms used in the program such as placements, approved and unapproved programs and cost shares. And we will discuss circuit breaker dos and don'ts.
We have scheduled Circuit Breaker "Newbie" Trainings at the following locations:
April 30 (Tuesday) - DESE, Malden - 9:30 AM
May 2 (Thursday) - Hudson High School - 1:00 PM
May 3 (Friday) - Bridgewater Middle School - 9:30 AM
May 6 (Monday) - DESE, Malden - 9:30 AM
May 7 (Tuesday) - Milton High School - 1:00 PM
May 13 (Monday) - Lower Pioneer Educational Valley Collaborative - 9:30 AM
Each training session will last approximately 3 hours. Please be on time as the trainings will commence promptly at the designated times listed.
To register for a specific session go to the registration page.
You may also view the trainings on the Department's event page.
The regular annual Circuit Breaker trainings will be scheduled at the end of May and early June and they will be posted shortly.
Finally, the Circuit Breaker file will be available in the Department's Security Portal in early May; a follow-up email will announce the date.
We look forward to seeing you at the workshop.
