Use of Assistive/Instructional Technologies to Support English Language Learners, Including Learners With Disabilities

This institute will help teachers distinguish between permanent language-learning problems and normal second-language learning issues and to develop an awareness of classroom behaviors manifested by students who have learning disabilities. Decoding, sound-symbol connections, pronunciation and phonics, word prediction, and writing are among the topics addressed in the institute. Teachers will develop criteria for evaluating the quality and appropriateness of assistive/instructional technologies and online resources in order to select the best technology to support their students.
