[HS.ETS.3.4] - Use a model to illustrate how the forces of tension, compression, torsion, and shear affect the performance of a structure. Analyze situations that involve these forces and justify the selection of materials for the given situation based on their properties. Clarification Statements: Examples of structures include bridges, houses, and skyscrapers. Examples of material properties can include elasticity, plasticity, thermal conductivity, density, and resistance to force.
