Verifying a GED
In Massachusetts GED® Score Reports/Transcripts do not indicate awarding or receiving a Massachusetts GED® credential, only that the five tests were taken and passed.
To verify that you have received your Massachusetts GED, you must do one of the following procedures:
The Simple Verification: A quick method for an employer, training programs or school to get a "faxed" determination that you have received a GED;
and/or
The Letter of Certification: A formal document for verification of your GED® status if you no longer have your actual GED® credential. Needed for college admissions and financial aid.
Effective immediately, no GED® Verifications - "Letters of Certification" or "Simple Verifications - will be issued to individuals or military recruiters who are "walk-ins" at the 1st floor reception area.
All requests for GED® verifications, must be done either by fax for "Simple Verification" - no charge- or by mail for "Letter of Certification - $2.00 money order required.
