Verifying a GED

Important Notice for Obtaining Your GED Verification

Please note in Massachusetts GED Transcripts do not indicate awarding or receiving a Massachusetts GED certificate/diploma, only that the five tests were taken and passed.

To verify that you have received your Massachusetts GED, you must do one of the following procedures:

The Simple Verification:
A quick method for an employer, training programs or school to get a "faxed" determination that you have received a GED;

and/or

The Letter of Certification:
A formal document for verification of your GED status if you no longer have your actual GED certificate/diploma. Needed for college admissions and financial aid.

Effective immediately, no GED Verifications - "Letters of Certification" or "Simple Verifications - will be issued to individuals or military recruiters who are "walk-ins" at the 3rd floor reception area.

All requests for GED verifications, must be done either by fax for "Simple Verification" - no charge- or by mail for "Letter of Certification - $2.00 money order required.
