Verifying a GED


Procedure for Simple Verification of GED

For What Purpose:Simple verification that individual has received a Mass. GED diploma/certificate
For Whom:Request from employers, employment agencies, schools, Dept. of Corrections, etc. that do not need written/formal documentation.
How To Obtain:

Request must be faxed to 781-338-3089 on the attached form View HTML Page | Download PDF Document or a facsimile. Individual must have signed form. Replies will be faxed or sent back within 2-3 working days - sooner if possible.

If someone calls from an agency requesting verification over the phone, the staff person answering the call will explain the process, give the fax number and information that we need or directed to our web site at. http://www.doe.mass.edu/ged/ . For those who do not have a fax number or access to the Internet, they will be given our mailing address to send the request.

Cost:None for the Simple Verification
Procedure:Request from agencies, colleges etc, must be faxed to the above number. Once received at ESE- GED Unit, staff will verify that the individuals does have a GED. The staff person will then complete form and fax back to agency, college etc. requesting the verification.

This verification is not a formal document, if such a document is required the individual must request a Letter of Certification (cost $2.00 - money order only made out to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts) from the Mass. Dept. of Education, GED Office, 350 Main Street , Malden, MA 02148.
