Instructional paraprofessionals may perform a variety of critical instructional duties, which include: providing one-on-one tutoring for students with special needs; assisting with classroom management; assisting in computer labs, media centers or libraries, and providing direct instruction to students under the supervision of a classroom teacher. Under new federal requirements, instructional paraprofessionals who work in Title I-funded targeted assistance or school wide programs will soon be required to meet specific academic requirements. Visit No Child Left Behind for paraprofessionals to learn more about these requirements.
