Purpose: The purpose of this state grant program is to provide financial assistance to support schools to expand and restructure their school day and/or year. Schools must add 300 additional hours for all students in FY2015 in order to provide additional time for English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, other core subjects, more common planning time and professional development for teachers, and to integrate more enrichment opportunities (arts, sports, experiential learning) into student learning.

Result of Funding: This grant program will support Young Achievers Science and Math K-8 in Boston, Guilmette Middle School (5-8) in Lawrence, and Paul A. Dever Elementary (K-5) in Boston through Blueprint Schools Network as receiver to implement a longer school day for all students. The schools enroll a combined total of more than 1,620 students. Grant awards range from $409,600 to $437,000
