Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2018

Workplace Education Planning Grants
Fund Code: 494

Purpose:The purpose of this grant program is to provide contextualized ABE/ESOL basic skills workplace instructional services to incumbent workers lacking the basic foundation skills expected of a high school graduate and/or who are limited English proficient.
Priorities:The priority is to support programs that deliver instructional services through partnerships between an education provider and a business or between an education provider and multiple businesses (consortia). These partnerships are supported by a combination of state and employer matching resources for a maximum of three years.
Eligibility: Five eligible recipients are those programs initially funded in FY 15 and for whom FY 18 is the final year of funding. Five eligible recipients are also those programs initially funded in FY 16 and for whom FY 19 is the final year of funding. See list below.

All ten eligible recipients must document evidence of continuing need for Adult Basic Education instruction in the workforce.

The following ten workplace education partnerships are eligible to apply for the grant awards listed:

  3. JVS and The Boston Home
  4. Bristol Community College and Blount Fine Foods, Raw Seafoods, Inc, Klear Vu Corporation, and John Matouk and Co.
  5. Quincy Asian Resources, Inc. and JP Fuji Group
All recipients awarded in the FY 17 Open and Competitive process are eligible to apply.

Group B - FY 19 is the final year of funding for these five federal grants operating on a federal year
  1. World Education, Inc & Sidekim Foods
  2. Bristol Community College & Joseph A Abboud & UNITEHERE!
  3. Cambridge Community Learning Center & MIT
  4. Jewish Vocational Service and Boloco
  5. Jewish Vocational Service and Stavis Seafood
Note: Administrative costs must not exceed 20%.

Fund Use:Funds must be used for collaborations between/among an education provider and a business or consortia of businesses.

Submission Instructions: Grantees must use the online grants information system; Paper submissions will no longer be accepted

Submit all required grant materials through the EdGrants website.

In EdGrants, applicants are required to create and name the project. Please use the following naming convention for your "Applicant Project Name" in EdGrants:

FY18 (Insert fund code and full legal name of program)
      (no acronyms, please)

All required forms should be uploaded in the Attachments List formlet of the Application Submission. This includes a signed / scanned PDF of Part I / Coversheet with CEO/Superintendent/Executive Director signature.
