|Purpose: ||The purpose of this grant program is to provide funding for Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to implement Turnaround Plans in their lowest performing Level 3 schools.|
||This competitive grant opportunity is open to selected LEAs on behalf of selected lowest performing (1st through 5th percentile) Level 3 schools. A complete list of eligible schools is located under Additional Information below. Funding is contingent upon Department receipt of federal Title 1 funds.
The Department expects to award funding to districts on behalf of approximately 6 to 10 schools.
|Funding Type:||Federal CFDA: 84.010|
||Approximately $6.5 million in funding is available through Massachusetts federal Title 1 funds, for expenditure in FY2018 to FY2019 (through June 30, 2019). The average annual award will be approximately $300,000 to 500,000 per school. Award amounts will also depend on the size of the school and the scope and scale of activities proposed for the selected intervention.
A detailed FY2018 budget will be required, with non-binding estimates for FY2019. FY2019 funding is contingent upon a successful grant application renewal process to be held in spring 2018.
||Fund use must be consistent with applicable state and federal requirements. All expenditures must closely align with the implementation of the Turnaround Plan. LEA-Level expenditures must directly support the implementation of the turnaround plan at the identified schools.
All expenditures will be closely reviewed as they relate to the priorities of this grant opportunity.
- Contract buyouts.

- Purchase of technology, computer software or hardware, unless a compelling case can be made for how these materials are necessary to implement fully the proposed intervention.
||FY2018 Turnaround Activities/Funding: July 2017 - June 30, 2018.
