Career and Technical Education Student Organization Grant

Purpose: The purpose of the competitive Perkins Career/Vocational Technical Student Organization grant program is to support career/vocational technical education student organizations delivering services statewide to increase student outcomes on the six (6) Perkins IV secondary-level core indicators of performance with priority given to increasing the participation of students who are members of special populations and deliver services. The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Improvement Act of 2006 P.L. 109-270 (Perkins IV) permits federal funds to be used for the support of career/vocational technical education student organizations, especially with respect to increasing the participation of students who are members of special populations.

Result of Funding: Ten districts/Institutions of Higher Education will receive funding to deliver programs and services provided by each career and technical education student organization across the Commonwealth to increase outcomes on the six (6) Perkins IV secondary-level core indicators of performance: Academic Attainment (Reading/Language Arts/Mathematic); Technical Skill Attainment; Secondary School Completion; Student Graduation Rates; Secondary Placement; Nontraditional by Gender (Participation/Completion).
