Purpose: the purpose of this competitive federal grant program is to provide funding for districts to implement School Redesign Plans which are built on one of four federally defined school intervention models-Turnaround, Restart, Transformation, or Closure at the state's persistently lowest-achieving schools. The award amounts presented here are for the first year of the three-year grant award duration.

Number of Proposals Not Recommended: 4 districts
Result of Funding: these grant funds will support the implementation of the federal Turnaround, Transformation, and Restart models in 18 schools. In all, the 18 schools receiving grant funding (2 schools from fund code 511 and 16 schools from fund code 767) serve more than 9,000 students, of which 89 percent are low income, 30 percent are limited English proficient, and 20 percent are students with disabilities.
