Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2012

Supporting Literacy Initiative Targets Level 4 Districts: Worcester Public Schools
Fund Code: 143A

Purpose: The purpose of this federally-funded grant program is to support district development and alignment of literacy curriculum and initiatives to the 2011 State Frameworks in the Level 4 district of Worcester.
Priorities: Supporting district and school level educators to develop and align the district's literacy curriculum to the 2011 State Frameworks. This work may include, but is not limited to, professional development to build district and school capacity with curriculum development work, creation or revision of district-level K-12 literacy scope and sequence documents, alignment of literacy assessments, and other activities that are in alignment to the requirements associated with Title IIA funds (see below).
Eligibility: Worcester Public Schools only.
Funding: Funding is available for up to $60,000.
Fund Use: Fund use must be consistent with the priorities described above and the requirements associated with Title II-A: Improving Teacher Quality that limit fund use to supporting priority strategic professional development and assistance initiatives designed to raise performance in the eligible districts and any of their schools.

Expenditures may include stipends, materials purchases, consultant fees, and other directly related/non-administrative costs. Funds must supplement, and not supplant, non-federal funds that would otherwise be used for activities authorized under this grant.
