Primary Instruction by Volunteers

The purpose of this grant program is to provide adults who cannot or will not enroll in class-based instructional services at a Community Adult Learning Center with access to effective Adult Basic Education (ABE) services.
The priorities are to support:
programs that provide one-to-one ABE instruction through the use of well-trained volunteers as the primary service delivery model; and
organizations with the capacity to deliver volunteer tutoring programs throughout the state or a significant portion of the state.
Eligible applicants are Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts and English at Large.

Funds may be used for ABE instructional services, delivered by well-trained volunteers. Computer literacy (basic skills and abilities that support the use of computers) may be offered as a supplemental instructional component.

Note:Due to pending changes in the ESE Grants Management system, applicants may have to resubmit these and other pages in a new online form. In that case, ESE will provide training to successful applicants on the resubmission process.
Submit two (2) sets of the proposal each with the original signature in blue ink of the Superintendent/Executive Director/President.
