|Purpose: ||The purpose of this grant program is to provide students enrolled in Community Adult Learning Centers with effective supplementary instruction provided by well-trained volunteers.|
Priorities are to:
- strengthen the ability of Community Adult Learning Centers to serve the students most in need of literacy; and
- support programs and/or collaborations that provide a comprehensive volunteer tutoring component that includes orientation, screening, training, and ongoing support for volunteers.
|Eligibility: ||Eligible applicants are currently funded Community Adult Learning Centers with Volunteer Tutoring Components.|

|Fund Use: ||Community Adult Learning Centers must use funds to support a minimum of a .25 FTE or a .5 FTE volunteer coordinator. The .25 FTE volunteer coordinator will be required to maintain a minimum active caseload of 20 tutor matches with a minimum of 12 tutors. The .50 FTE volunteer coordinator will be required to maintain a minimum active caseload of 35 volunteer tutor matches with a minimum of 24 tutors.|
Applicants proposing a volunteer tutoring component in collaboration with one or more additional ESE funded programs, must use funds to support a .75 or 1 FTE volunteer coordinator. The .75 FTE volunteer coordinator will be required to maintain a minimum active caseload of 50 tutor matches with a minimum of 36 tutors. Applicants proposing a 1 FTE coordinator serving more than one ESE funded program will be required to maintain a minimum active caseload of 65 tutor matches with a minimum of 48 tutors.
