|Purpose: ||The purpose of this grant program is to provide support for the operation of One-Stop Career Centers in the Massachusetts Workforce Development system in order to meet the needs of adults (career center customers) who require and are eligible, ready, and willing to enroll in Adult Basic Education (ABE) services to enhance their prospects of gaining meaningful employment.|
|Priorities: ||The priority is to continue funding Workforce Investment Boards (WIB) or their Department-approved designee in order to support One-Stop Career Centers in meeting the needs of adults who require and are eligible, ready, and willing to enroll in ABE services.|
|Eligibility: ||Eligible applicants are those WIBs or designees that have submitted:
Option 1 - Career Center staff provide intake, assessment, and referral services; or
- a negotiated Memorandum of Understanding that indicates a choice of either Option 1 or Option 2 (See below.); (This MOU serves as the Statement of Assurances.)
- FY2011 quarterly reports; and
- an annual report documenting the results of prior year collaboration with Career Centers.
Option 2 - A Department-approved program in the region provides such services within the Career Center one day per week. Funds for out-stationing are provided to the program by the ESE/ACLS and are not included in the regional allocations listed below.

Funding is subject to appropriation approval and satisfactory past program performance. Funds in this category are continuation grants available only to Local Workforce Investment Boards (LWIB) or through their Department-approved designee.
|Fund Use: ||Funds must be used to support Career Centers regarding intake, assessment, and referral of career center customers who need basic educational services or ACLS approved educational services offered in partnership with Department-funded providers.
