Grants and Other Financial Assistance Programs: FY2014

Supplementary State Support to Specific Underperforming School Districts: New Bedford and Southbridge Public Schools
Fund Code: 220-S

Purpose: The purpose of this non-competitive grant project is to enhance the accelerated district and school improvement work by increasing the leadership capacity of principals and/or engaging families and community stakeholders as meaningful partners in the work.
Priorities: New Bedford Public Schools and Southbridge Public Schools are both involved in ESE's Accelerated Improvement Planning process that addresses all six district standards:
  • Leadership and Governance
  • Curriculum and Instruction
  • Assessment
  • Human Resources and Professional Development
  • Student Support
  • Financial and Asset Management
Eligibility: Only New Bedford Public Schools and Southbridge Public Schools are eligible.
Funding: $50,000 per district (for a total of $100,000); these amounts may be adjusted.
Fund Use: Fund use must be consistent with a scope of work and detailed budget to be submitted by the districts and approved by ESE. All procurement, permissions, and logistical work will be the responsibility of the school district and not ESE, and shall follow local district requirements.
