MassCore

IV. Background to the Development of Masscore
The Massachusetts Department of Education and Board of Higher Education, in collaboration with the Governor's Office, established a broadly constituted working committee to advise the Department and Board of Education on identifying a recommend course of study for college and career readiness.
The committee included representation from secondary education, higher education, workforce development, the business community, and other important stakeholders. One of the critical first goals of the committee was to identify the course of study that will prepare high school students for what is expected during their freshman year of college and in the workplace.
On March 27, 2007 the Recommended High School Core Program of Study was introduced to the Massachusetts Board of Education
On November 27, 2007, the Massachusetts Board of Education voted to approve MassCore
