Full-Day Kindergarten

Since Fiscal Year 1999-2000 (FY00), the State Legislature and Governor have supported funding for Kindergarten Expansion Grants through line-item 7030-1002. The purpose of these grants is to support the transition to and delivery of high quality of educational programs for children in full-day kindergarten classrooms. Funding priorities include improving the quality of curriculum and classroom environment; providing continuity of curriculum across preschool, kindergarten, and grades one through three; and developing other programmatic components of kindergarten. (Full-day kindergarten is defined as a minimum of five instructional hours, for five days/week, for 180-days/school year.)
