Scoring Guide and Sample Student Work
Select a score point in the table below to view the sample student response.

ScoreDescription
4 The response demonstrates a thorough understanding of the safe and proper use of measuring tools, hand tools, and machines needed to construct a prototype of an engineering design. The response clearly describes the steps needed to complete the project and includes the tools needed. The response correctly identifies and clearly describes one safety precaution to follow in completing the project.
4
3
The response demonstrates a general understanding of the safe and proper use of measuring tools, hand tools, and machines needed to construct a prototype of an engineering design.
2
The response demonstrates a limited understanding of the safe and proper use of measuring tools, hand tools, and machines needed to construct a prototype of an engineering design.
1
The response demonstrates a minimal understanding of the safe and proper use of measuring tools, hand tools, and machines needed to construct a prototype of an engineering design.
0
The response is incorrect or contains some correct work that is irrelevant to the skill or concept being measured.
