Updated 2008-2009 Statewide Testing Schedule and Release of 2009-2010 Statewide Testing Schedule

The statewide testing schedules for MCAS, MEPA, and the optional Algebra II End-of-Course Exam for 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 are posted on the Department's Web site at www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/cal.html.

Please note that two updates have been made to the 2008-2009 testing schedule.

  • For schools with LEP students only: a brief MEPA-R/W field test will be administered in October.
  • For high schools: pending the receipt of funding, high schools students who have completed an Algebra II course are encouraged to participate in the Algebra II test in December 2008/January 2009. The purpose of the optional American Diploma Project's online Algebra II test is to identify each student's strengths and weaknesses and to signal whether a student is prepared for college-level coursework in mathematics.

The Department has added flexibility to the 2008-2009 calendar to allow more choice within the testing windows. As you plan your school's testing schedule within each testing window, we remind you that state and federal laws require schools to make reasonable accommodations for the needs of students and employees who observe religious holidays (www.doe.mass.edu/resources/holidays.html). Whenever possible, we encourage you to test students early in each testing window and return your materials before the scheduled deadline.

Please contact the Student Assessment Services unit at 781-338-3625 if you have any questions.

Thank you.
