Assessment Transition Plans

Clarifications for Grades 3–8 MCAS Mathematics Transition Plan

Throughout the lists of grade 3–8 assessable math standards, many standards are marked with an asterisk (*), identifying them as a "connected standard." Connected standards contain content that is found at that grade level in both the 2000/2004 framework and the 2011 framework. For example, in the list of grade 6 standards assessable on the 2012 MCAS test, standard 6.N.1 from the 2000/2004 math framework is marked with an asterisk. This means that some or all aspects of standard 6.N.1 are found in the grade 6 standards from the 2011 framework. The connected standards were identified using the math standards crosswalk document Download MS EXCEL Document.

The abbreviations for some standards found in the 2000/2004 and the 2011 standards are the same, for example there is a 4.G.1 in the 2000/2004 framework and there is a 4.G.1 in the 2011 framework, however this does not mean the standards are identical, it only means their coding abbreviation is the same.
