New Information and Filing Requirements for School Year 2006-2007

The Massachusetts Board of Education is soliciting public comment regarding eliminating the MCAS Grade 10 test score minimum requirement of 216 to be eligible for a performance appeal. (Currently, students with disabilities are exempt from meeting this requirement.) Until schools are notified otherwise late in the fall of 2006, the 216 minimum score for non-disabled students will remain in effect. To review and comment on the proposed amendments please go to http://www.doe.mass.edu/news/news.asp?id=2972.

To provide parents and students with information about the options available for students who may need more time and additional help to master the English and mathematics learning standards required to receive a competency determination, these letters from Education Commissioner, David P. Driscoll, discuss the options for students in the high school graduating classes of 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 and 2003.
